OK folks its in. All I can say is WOW. The truck rides sweet. I would say better then stock. You dont feel the uneven stuff as much, less bounce over bumps but you still feel the road well enough to have confidence.
It was close to an 80 mile journy from the shop to my house mostly (90%) highway. So I have a good sense of the ride. Tracks straight and true at speed on the highway. No vibrations what so ever. Let go of the wheel a few times to check and she tract very true. Turning and lane changes were crisp and solid. Didn't feel top heavy at all. Alot of that has to do with the zero camber or caster change throughout the suspention cycle or turning cycle.
The kit does reuse the factory rear shocks. In my case Rancho 9000X. I have the Bilstein 5100 series upfront, yes I will be changing out the rears when funds come back around. But with the Ranchos on the #3 setting they match the Bilsteins very well.
I got under the truck and it looks solid under there. Nothing looks wimpy or suseptible to breakage. Yes things break I know but these parts do look beefy. The gloss black powder coating makes it look sharp too.
I had the truck on some bumpy, washboard type roads and it handled very well. I flex the suspention on some rocks and boulders in a parking lot near my house and not one creak or squeek. Articulation looks very well.
I still have my 285/75/16s on and havent decided if I want a taller tire yet. I do want a wider tire and some rear wheel spacers to make the track width even and blow out the wheel wells width wise in rubber. The height looks pretty good right now. But give it some time to settle and also me to look at it more then I have.
In my opinion this is a very solid kit worth the money. I would reccomend it to anyone looking for a solid kit that keeps the highway characteristics that a daily driver needs yet doesnt sacrifice off-road capabilites at all. |
